The salary for this permanent Substance Misuse Nurse job is £36,635 – £42,743 per annum.

Main Duties:
- Conduct comprehensive physical and mental health assessments for service users as needed, and ensure appropriate referral or signposting to primary care or secondary healthcare services for identified health issues.
- Provide education, health promotion, and screening for blood-borne viruses (BBV), including administering Hepatitis B vaccinations when necessary.
- Support CGL’s Naloxone Strategy by training staff and service users in the use of Naloxone, ensuring it is distributed to service users at every opportunity.
- Build therapeutic relationships with individuals experiencing substance misuse, fostering effective partnerships to support their recovery.
- Continuously review and update procedures to ensure best practices, aligning with UK Guidelines on Clinical Management, NICE guidance, and CGL clinical protocols and procedures.
- Offer harm reduction advice to injecting service users, providing essential information and equipment, and ensuring safe disposal of all materials.
- Accurately record and input client data to ensure the service meets all contractual, administrative, and financial requirements.
Requirements of the Substance Misuse Nurse:
- Qualified Registered Nurse: Must hold a current PIN with recent post-qualification experience.
- Experience in Substance Use Care: Prior experience in drug and alcohol treatment is an advantage but not mandatory.
- Expertise in Harm Reduction: Strong knowledge and practical application of harm reduction strategies and health promotion techniques.
- Client Assessment and Planning: Skilled in evaluating service users, creating tailored recovery plans, and preparing comprehensive written reports.
- Service Evaluation Skills: Ability to conduct clinical audits to assess service quality and identify areas for enhancement.
- Compassionate and Professional: Demonstrates a caring, non-judgmental, and professional demeanor in all interactions with service users and stakeholders.
- Commitment to Integrity: Values the importance of maintaining professional ethics and integrity in relationships with service users, colleagues, and other professionals.
