Mechanical Technician
Orion Rail are looking for multiple Mechanical Technicians to join our global client in Rolling Stock vehicle manufacturing, service and maintenance on their success journey.
Job Location: Wimbledon
Hourly Pay Rate: £24.06 PAYE / £30.76 Umbrella
Shifts: 12 hours
Shift Pattern: 4 on / 4 off Days 0700 – 1900 & Nights 1900 – 0700
Duration: Ongoing Contract
Start Date: ASAP
Mechanical Technician Position Summary:
The Mechanical Technician will be working within a Rail Depot and will initially be engaged for the implementation of a suite of Mechanical modifications on our Class 701 Project. In addition, the Mechanical Technician will eventually be responsible for carrying out snagging work and routine maintenance, repair and fault finding on Class 701 Electric Multiple Unit. Take overall responsibility of vehicle examinations in line with vehicle maintenance instructions (VMI’s). The Mechanical Technician will undertake all types of maintenance examination work to ensure that we provide a safe, reliable, and defect free train. Take responsibility for the safe, efficient and professional workmanship of oneself and others under your control. Duties could include the following:
- Mechanical Interiors/ Roof & Underframe inspections
- Carrying out inspections and checks to ensure reliability of fleet
- Carrying out mechanical and electrical modifications
- Carrying out work recording via both paperwork and computer (SAP)
- Vehicle Build rectification work
Qualifications / Education required for the Mechanical Technician:
Minimum requirements NVQ Level 3 award in a Mechanical discipline.
