Advanced Biomedical Scientist – Digital Lead Salary: £51,000 – £58,000 Per Annum

Location: London – Shropshire House

Contract Type: Permenant 

Shifts:

  • Weekdays: 08:00-16:30, 09:30-18:00, 10:30-19:00, 12:00-20:30
  • Weekends: 08:00-14:00, 09:00-14:00, 09:00-20:30

Main duties/responsibilties:

  • Practice as an HCPC registered Biomedical Scientist and maintain registration.
  • Follow HCA Labs standing policies and procedures to ensure an efficient delivery of laboratory service.
  • Comply with the code of practice of the Institute of Biomedical Science (IBMS) and HCPC and work consistently to ISO 15189 (2012) and UKAS accreditation.
  • Lead Digital Pathology in HCA Cellular Pathology department and provide support for Backlogs
  • Carryout unsupervised routine and more complex investigations and analysis of tissue using specialised laboratory equipment.
  • Be responsible for delegated tasks involved in the day-to-day organisation and delivery of a clinical pathology service with high standards of patient care.
  • Assist with the teaching of new staff where appropriate.
  • Cooperate with the supervisory staff and Pathologists in the introduction and development of new and improved techniques.
  • Maintain good work relationships with all members of staff, and to promote effective teamwork.                           
  • Assist the BMS3 and liaise with Section Head with the day to day and strategic management of the Histopathology Department.
  • Assist the Section Head/BMS3 to manage the space and equipment allocated to the department to ensure an efficiently delivered service.
  • Assist with the establishment and development of departmental policies and procedures to ensure an efficient delivery of laboratory service.
  • Assist Section Head/BMS3 in the formulation of departmental strategies for the training and development of all non-medical staff within the department and users of the service as appropriate.
  • Assist Section Head/BMS3 to develop and maintain contingency plans for the department.

 

Requirements of the Advanced Biomedical Scientist – Digital Lead:

  • Current HCPC Registration
  • Degree or equivalent in Biomedical Science
  • Recent UK experience
  • MSc desirable
  • Experience in a Histology lab
  • Experience working in Digital Pathology
  • Member of the Institute of Biomedical Sciences
  • Fellow of the Institute of Biomedical Sciences is desirable
