We have an exciting locum opportunity for a Seasonal Vaccinator with UK experience to join our team.

Location: Fulbourn

Pay rate (Assignment rate): £22 per hour

Main duties:

  • The bank staff vaccinator will work as part of a dynamic team to deliver both Flu vaccines to Trust staff during the Autumn staff vaccination campaign (October – December 2024)
  • The worker will be responsible for informing staff about the vaccine, advising staff re possible contraindications, obtaining informed consent, and administering the vaccine to clients whilst adhering to the written instruction .
  • Staff will be required to complete online vaccination training and have competency assessed prior to the commencement of the campaign.
  • Staff should be able to commit to commuting to any of Trust site / service locations with Cambridge, fenland and Peterborough to conduct flu vaccination clinics
  • Commitment to identified tasks in relation to staff and patient seasonal vaccinations, flu and covid vaccinations for which the post holder has been trained and or assessed as competent.
  • Ensure proper disposal of clinical waste and change of PPE as per local and national guidelines.
  • Comply with application of trust infection control policy in day to day activities ; Wear adequate PPE, good hand hygiene, maintain vaccination equipment and environmental cleanliness, in line with local and national guidelines
  • Respond to queries appropriately and consult with the registered nurse supervisor where necessary to gain further advice or information.
  • Address any concerns and ensure consent and clinical assessment for vaccination protocol is completed and recorded
  • Undertake mandatory and any clinical training required as appropriate e.g. Basic life support and anaphylaxis, Infection control training , manual handling , cold chain, and any training relevant to the role as required.
  • Support day to day running infection control service , task to be allocated by designated supervisor
  • Comply trust policies and procedures.

Requirements for the Seasonal Vaccinator role:

  • Registered Nurse (RN), Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN), or other healthcare professional license, depending on jurisdiction and regulations.
  • Certification in vaccine administration (may include flu vaccine, COVID-19 vaccine, etc.), such as certification in immunization practices.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or equivalent, often required.
  • Previous experience in administering vaccines or intramuscular injections is preferred. Experience in administering multiple types of vaccines (flu, COVID-19, etc.) is often a plus.
  • Experience in patient care, particularly in a clinical or public health setting.
